If you would like not to die at your desk, you should stand more
8/9/2012More and more research indicates that sitting for hours can be unhealthy -- bad news for most of us with desk jobs. Studies find that hours of inactivity (like, say, sitting and staring at a screen all day) can lead to obesity, increase the risk of heart disease and a host of other unpleasant things. Because workers dying is bad for business, a growing number of employers are having their workers stand, the San Francisco Chronicle reports today. As one commenter noted, "Our bodies are simply not meant to be stationary." True, but tell that to most of America. [Source]
