Starbucks coffee cups have a special message for D.C. lawmakers
12/26/2012Big brands rarely wade into overtly political waters – what's the upside of alienating half your customers? – but Starbucks thinks it has a message coffee-drinkers will rally around: "Come together." That's the message you'll see hand-scrawled on coffee cups at Washington D.C.-area Starbucks in the days leading up to Jan. 1, the deadline for a resolution to the so-called "fiscal-cliff" negotiations. Cynics might scoff at the marketing push, but we're thinking this has as good a shot as anything else at shaming politicians into working together – at least, the ones who like Frappuccinos. [Source]
