Starving yourself may not make you live longer after all
8/30/2012Scientists behind a major study of the effects of a low-calorie diet on longevity have concluded it really doesn't make all that much difference as compared with a normal diet. Many of the National Institute on Aging researchers involved in the study of rhesus monkeys are probably pretty disappointed about the results. Their assumptions led them to follow a similar diet themselves — for 23 long, sad, cake-free years. The skinny monkeys did not live any longer than the ones on a regular diet, and their eventual causes of death were similar. Bacon sundae, anyone? Damn straight! [Source]
