Stem cell research has been a hot topic ever since it was first discovered that the amazing little cells could take on virtually any sort of physiological function. We hear about stem cells research being the key to diseases like Alzheimer’s, cancer and Parkinson’s, yet the moral debate of how appropriate it is to use embryonic or fetal cells in research has dogged advances in the field. But trending on Reddit today is an intriguing article that says "exfoliated renal epithelial cells" can be used to harvest pluripotent stem cells, and those exfolio-renus-whatehaveyous are present in urine, perhaps making stem cell research about as ethically questionable as a pit stop.
