Schools reject drunk grandpa's kind offer to protect them with gun

12/19/2012

Remember the valiant retired Marine who volunteered to stand guard at his children's school in the wake of the Newtown murders? Well, here's the Floridian version. A drunken grandfather showed up to two of his grandkids' schools in Port Charlotte on Monday, asking if he could bring a gun onto school grounds to help protect them. He was arrested, not applauded. School officials at Kingsway Elementary said that Stephen Craig Miller came in "very intoxicated" to make his alarming request. The seriously misguided senior then visited the local middle school to pitch the same offer, but this time he was arrested on multiple charges, including disruption of a school function, and taken to jail. [Source]
