Miracle dog rescued from mountain by strangers

8/17/2012

Things weren't looking good for this German Shepherd mix when a couple found her stranded on a rugged climber's trail near Mt. Bierstadt in Colorado. Wedged down in a crevice, the pup's paws were bleeding and she was severely dehydrated. Unable to get the 100-pound canine down on their own, Scott and Amanda Washburn went for help. However, the risk was high and every agency refused to help without there being a human in danger. Desperate, they turned to a climber's website where they found a group of strangers who offered to take on the challenge. Strapped with a backpack and makeshift sling, they got the pooch downhill after a harrowing rescue operation, where a vet dubbed her "Miracle Missy." The Washburns are pushing to adopt though the owner has now surfaced and wants her back. [Source]
