College students, take note: Pre-funking is not as great as you think
11/10/2012For college students, pre-funking before a night out is beneficial for two reasons — it gets a nice buzz going, and it saves you cash on your bar tab. Right? Alas, a new study with results as unsurprising as you would imagine found that college students who drink before going out (aka pre-funking, for those of us not in college) are more prone to drinking heavily over the course of the night — which, of course, means more risk of blackouts, hangovers and risky sex. You don’t say. The study found that Americans party heartier than most, with 75 percent of U.S. college students saying they pre-funk. As for saving some dough? Nope. Pre-game boozers still drink as much at the bar as they would have otherwise. [Source]
