Study says fecal transplants could cure bacterial infection

As transplants go, one sure to be the butt of many jokes could one day save your life. Fecal transplants, it turns out, are effective treatments for clostridium difficile, a bacteria commonly found in hospitals that can be fatal. A new study found that donor feces restore good bacteria that help the body fight the infection. To do the transplant, doctors take the donor feces, work it by hand into an even mixture and insert it via colonoscopy into the cecum, the start of the large intestine. Hope you weren't eating.
