Now comes word from Japan that humulone, a compound found in hops, is something of a WMD in the fight against respiratory syncytial (RS) virus, which infects the lungs and breathing passages. OK, there are drawbacks. Like the fact that RS targets infants, that the bitter taste makes it unappealing to children and that you have to drink like 30 cans of beer for it to have any benefit. And never mind that the study was done at Sapporo Medical University, which just happens to be funded by Sapporo Breweries. Science is science. [Source]
