Size matters at Subway, especially when footlongs come up short
1/18/2013Somehow singing "Five … five … five dollar almost-a-footlong" doesn't have the same ring to it. But Subway might have to consider it, now that the chain is accused of shorting customers up to an inch on "footlong" sandwiches. The frenzy began when an Australian customer posted a pic of his sub beside a tape measure that showed it was 11 inches. Similar photos popped up around the Internet, and the New York Post's lunchtime mini-investigation found four of seven sandwiches were short. A Subway spokesman threw some of its workers under the (short) bus, saying that the offending loaves must not have met the chain's specifications. "We are committed to providing a consistent product delivering the same amount of bread to the customer with every order,” he said. [Source]
