Superheroes wash windows at hospitals to cheer up kids, fight grime

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's ... Spider-Man washing a window? No, that's not an optical illusion. Workers from cleaning services around the country are dressing up as superheroes to wash windows at children's hospitals. The grime-fighters rappel down the building, knocking on windows and waving at the pint-sized patients as they work. Last week, Spider-Man, Captain America and Batman joined forces at Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Allegheny Window Cleaning in Pittsburgh started the trend in October, and they're delighted to see it take off. "The kids went wild," says office manager Michelle Matuizek."They were all over the windows, smiling and screaming — it was just magical." If laughter's the best medicine, a visit from window-washing superheroes might be just what the doctor ordered. [Source]
