Man's 'high tolerance' for booze gets DUI charge dismissed

2/7/2013

You might have a drinking problem if the defense you used to beat a DUI charge is that you drink so much that your tolerance is at superhuman level. That’s how one Swedish man recently had a drunk driving charge dismissed. In November, the 61-year-old told the court that, before he went to work a night shift in the southern city of Ystad, he drank six small bottles of schnapps, a beer and mulled wine. When he was pulled over, the man’s blood-alcohol level was five times over the legal limit. The man argued he wasn’t drunk. The court agreed, ruling that since he drank every day "he must have a high tolerance for alcohol,” and the case was thrown out. Skal! [Source]
