Swimmer goes from vegetative state to Paralympics
6/21/2012A spinal cord injury from a rare neurological condition left young Victoria Arlen in a vegetative state for three years. Then she started to gain movement and was able to start competitive swimming again a year and a half ago. After this past weekend's U.S. Paralympics Trials, she's the proud owner of two world records and a ticket to the Paralympic Games in London this summer to compete in four events. "I always felt that I had a lot to live for; that's what kept me going," Victoria says. "I was always just determined to live. I had a really good support system." We're confident this inspirational athlete will make a splash at the games.
