Shrimps don't need a barbie to cook as Sydney sweats in record heat
1/18/2013Folks in the Northern Hemisphere might be all bundled up and dealing with the throes of winter, but our friends in Australia could use a break from their summer heat. Sydney reported its highest temperature ever recorded when the mercury topped out at 114.4 degrees Fahrenheit, while areas around the city recorded temps as high as 116. The previous record high in Sydney was a balmy 113.5 Fahrenheit, recorded way back in 1939, when the sun was clearly going through another temper tantrum. Forecasters say relief is on the way, though, as approaching thunderstorms are expected to cause a drop in temperatures. [Source]
