Party boy told pals he's going to Europe, is actually going to jail
2/7/2013In January, some of New York City's swankiest denizens descended on Manhattan bar Bungalow 8 for socialite Tabber Benedict's (yes, "Tabber" is his name) going-away party. As he sipped champagne, 35-year-old Benedict reportedly boasted about the places he'd visit on his year-long sojourn to Europe. Except he wasn't about to jet off across the Atlantic. He was about to begin a lengthy stint behind bars. In 2011, Benedict hit cyclist Steven Dorn while driving drunk in the Hamptons, and fled the scene. He was convicted of aggravated vehicular assault and sentenced to 3 to 10 years in prison — a prison in upstate New York, not in Europe. [Source]
