Take a musical history tour with these gifted maestros

7/11/2012

This latest release from cdza (short for "collective cadenza") is emphatic proof that classically-trained musicians aren't dull. "An Abridged History of Western Music in 16 Genres" showcases the multitalented music collective's incredibly diverse skills -- they belt out everything from disco to Baroque to rap tunes with gusto. The group is the brainchild of a Juilliard maestro, a web content specialist and a music producer, and it has grown to include over 30 musical geniuses plucked from Juilliard and around New York City. Shot in a single take in their signature wood-paneled studio, this extravaganza covers musical history starting with Gregorian chant. It's so enthralling that we'll forgive them for skipping classic rock.
