Want to break the law today? Instagram a pic of your completed ballot
11/6/2012Because it's Election Day, Instagram users are taking a break from taking overprocessed pics of Starbucks cups to take overprocessed pics of their completed ballots. But those LoFi and Earlybird filters could earn you a misdemeanor. The majority of states have laws preventing people from photographing or recording their own vote, legislation put in place to prevent buying votes (snapping a pic of that ballot would prove you placed it), but individual laws do vary. "You're free to tell the world who you voted for," Don Wright of North Carolina's State Board of Elections says. "You can tell the truth, or you can lie about it. You just can't take a picture of it." [Source]
