Crappy puppets banned at Republican convention

8/1/2012

If you'd planned on using puppets to protest the Republican National Convention, think again, Geppetto. The Tampa Police Department has banned all parts of puppets, including string, sticks and masks, from entering the "event zone," which is pretty much all of downtown Tampa. The officers aren't protecting the pupaphobic (those with an irrational fear of puppets) as much as they're worried that someone will fill a puppet full of poop and take it into the convention. No, really. "Their heads have been used to hide weapons and … fecal matter," Andrea Davis of the Tampa PD said. Well, that doesn't change our own RNC plans, but it does make us wonder what kind of puppet shows have been touring Florida.
