Tased woman says cops knew she was pregnant

6/8/2012

What started as a dispute over a traffic ticket ended with a pregnant woman getting shocked by a stun gun. Tiffany Rent says the Chicago police officer used a stun gun on her even though he knew she was pregnant; police contend that Rent was belligerent. Rent, who is eight months pregnant, said she pulled into a handicapped spot at a Walgreens to calm her agitated daughter and was ticketed despite her explanation. Police said that's when Rent became hostile, tearing up the ticket and cursing at the officer. She then attempted to drive away and was stunned. Rent's unborn son is apparently unharmed, and regarding the incident, which is under investigation, the city's police superintendent said, "you can't always tell whether somebody is pregnant."
