Teacher fired for alleged tryst with colleague to get job back

A high school teacher, whose alleged classroom tryst with another teacher got her fired, should get her job back, a Manhattan judge ruled today. Alini Brito sued after she lost her job after a 2009 incident in which a janitor and safety officers at Brooklyn's James Madison High said they saw her in a topless romp with fellow teacher Cindy Mauro. Judge Alice Schlesinger said city officials and an arbitrator made an "excessive and shockingly severe" decision by firing her. Brito contended she was denied due process, in part because the city destroyed a security video of the incident she said would have exonerated her.
