Teacher quits after alleged interest in student 'boobage'

3/31/2012

A middle school math teacher in Florida has resigned after allegedly making a comment that she wanted to measure a female student's "boobage." According to a memo obtained by the Orlando Sentinel, the student filed a complaint against her teacher for approaching her with a ruler and saying she wanted to measure the girl's cleavage to see if she was in violation of the school's dress code. In the memo, the teacher denies using the term "boobage" as the student alleges, but admits she "could have handled the situation better." Florida's educator's code of ethics prohibits teachers from intentionally exposing students to embarrassment or disparagement.
