Teacher refuses to grade essay because it references gun show

2/23/2013

When a Texas high school teacher told his class to write a paragraph about "a fun experience they had," he forgot to mention that none of those experiences should involve guns.  A student who wrote about visiting a gun show was told that he could rewrite it or take a zero for the assignment. Angry mom Kimberly Williams confronted the teacher (after calling the local news, obviously) who said he rejected the paper because "we've had a certain amount of violence and things in schools." Williams disagrees. "It's just his own moral beliefs trying to be put in his classroom and I disagree with that," she said. The teacher sort-of apologized and has since accepted the paper. [Source]
