Team USA will be decked out in 'Made in China' uniforms
7/12/2012We've all had a few days to stop snickering about Ralph Lauren's goofy-looking Team USA uniforms. As it turns out, not only will our Olympic athletes LOOK totally un-American (we're not exactly known for wearing berets), but each piece of the uniform, from head to toe, is literally un-American: Not one of the seven pieces that competitors will wear was made in the United States. "Why shouldn't we have pride not only in the American athletes, but in the American manufacturers and laborers who are the backbone of our country?" designer Nanette Lepore asked. The U.S. Olympic committee defended their partnership with the "iconic American" Ralph Lauren brand, apparently even when it's marked "Made in China."
