After drop, teen driving deaths rise sharply
2/27/2013Tell your favorite teen to stop texting and driving. After several years of decline, the rate of teen driving deaths jumped sharply in the first half of 2012. The data analyzed by the Governors Highway Safety Association looks only at the number of teens who were responsible for their own driving deaths (rather than deaths caused by other drivers) because, they say, it's an accurate reflection of overall teen driving behavior. That reflection was grim: Deaths climbed about 20 percent over the same period in 2011. While 25 states reported an increase, some states recorded no teen driving deaths — including Nevada and Delaware. [Source]
