Teen organ donor changes eight lives following her death

5/11/2012

The legacy of a 13-year-old girl who tragically died from a sudden brain aneurysm will live on after her organs were used to change the lives of eight people. Jemima Layzell collapsed as she prepared for her mom's birthday party -- but thanks to an earlier discussion with her parents about her belief in organ donation, her eye tissue will help restore vision for two people, her heart will save a 5-year-old boy's life and two young people will benefit from her kidneys, in addition to other donations. Her devastated parents paid tribute by saying, "Jemima's short life was so full of joy and achievement and finally such generosity -- to be celebrated and always remembered."
