Teen tweets photo of dying man — and doesn't call for an ambulance7/31/2012
If you were despairing over the state of today's youth, this distressing story will reinforce your fears. Nineteen-year-old Scotsman Ikram Choudhury is being investigated for tweeting a photograph of a man who'd been mortally wounded in a hit-and-run accident — as Gawker notes, Choudhury actually had to stop his car and leave it to get the photo. The tweet read: "Eeeehm wtf? Some guy just casually lying outside Ocean Terminal." Tragically, the man wasn't just "casually lying" — he was dying. Even worse, when Choudhury's Twitter contacts asked him if he'd called emergency services, he replied that he hadn't: "what if like i went over n he like tried doin some dodgy shit to me?" By the time paramedics did arrive, it was too late, and the victim died of his injuries. Police "quizzed" the teenager at his parents' home in Edinburgh. [Source]
Is there any excuse for not contacting 911 in this situation?
