Teen's carved turtle turns up alive and well 47 years later
5/7/2012Forty-seven years ago, 13-year-old Jeff Cokeley of South Strabane, Pa., carved his initials and the date into a box turtle's shell, because that's what 13-year-old boys do, and released it. This week, his father was walking his neighbor's dog when he came across the exact same turtle, still slummin' for worms nearly a half-century later. "I picked it up, and I thought 'Oh geez, this is Jeff's turtle!" Holland Cokeley told CBS2 Pittsburgh. As great as this story is, we're on an anti-turtle carving platform lest they mutate into kickass ninja turtles and take revenge. Or just because it's really, really cruel, even for 1965, and even for a young teenage boy.
