Teens leave $4K motel bill after fake ‘social services’ stay

4/16/2012

We've all done some crazy things in our youth, but this one might take the (mini-bar) cake. Police have accused two teens of pretending to be placed in a motel by social services, then racking up a whopping $3,900 bill. According to Asbury Park Press, a woman claiming to work for social services called the Sea Horse Motel in Brant Beach, N.J., to request a two-week stay for a couple and a child. The motel's owner later discovered the mystery caller had zero connection to social services. Police say the room was actually occupied by a pair of allegedly scheming teenagers who've been charged with "theft by deception."
