Woman killed pushing husband to safety from drunk driver
2/27/2013Teresa Marquard was a devoted wife and mother until the end. The Philadelphia woman was taking her usual Sunday morning walk with her husband of 42 years, Albert, when a minivan swerved onto the sidewalk and sped toward the couple. Teresa instinctively pushed her husband out of harm’s way, but was struck by the van and died at the scene. Police say the driver, Eric Luciano, was drunk at the time of the incident, and is in critical condition at a local hospital. Albert Marquard was unharmed. The couple’s devastated children called their mom a hero for her act. [Source]
