Terrorist bomb survivor on British Paralympic team

6/21/2012

The terrorist bombings that rocked London in 2005 and killed 52 people cast a horrific shadow over the previous day's announcement that the 2012 Olympics had been awarded to the city. Now, Martine Wiltshire, who sat just feet away from one of the bombers on the Circle subway line and had to have her legs amputated after the explosion, has been named to Britain's Paralympic sitting volleyball team. "It's amazing to be selected," said Wiltshire, who doctors said lost 75 percent of her blood in the blast. "I have dreamt of being part of it and now I am going there to do my country proud."
