Atheist group backs parents who don't want a 'Charlie Brown Christmas'

11/21/2012

'Tis the season for religious controversy, everyone! An atheist group is supporting a group of Little Rock, Ark., parents who are upset about a Terry Elementary School-sanctioned trip to see the play "A Charlie Brown Christmas." As anyone who's seen the cartoon version knows, Linus gives a long speech about the birth of Christ and — adding an extra Christian cherry to this divisive sundae — this particular performance is being held in a church. "While everyone loves Charlie Brown, the religious content of the program is a problem, as is the trip to a church to see it,” said Anne Orsi of the Arkansas Society of Free Thinkers. And we have more than a month of this debate left? Good grief! [Source]
