Fired Red Sox manager slams team's owners: 'They don't love the game'
1/16/2013Sorry, scorned women, but apparently there's no fury like that of a fired Red Sox manager. Terry Francona, who managed Boston's baseball team for eight seasons, slammed the team's ownership in his upcoming book. "I don't think they love baseball," Francona wrote in the cleverly named "Francona: The Red Sox Years." "I think they like baseball … it's still more of a toy or hobby for them." He also accused the owners of signing high-dollar players in a misguided attempt to build a "sexy team." The book will be released on Jan. 22, three months before Francona's first game as manager of the Cleveland Indians. Francona's new team will face his old "sexy" one on April 16. [Source]
