For new dads, sleeping next to a baby can lower testosterone
9/12/2012For new fathers, it turns out that sleeping next to your baby could affect testosterone levels. Research has already shown that men who are more involved with infant care see a drop in their testosterone, but a new study reveals fathers who shared a bed with sleeping babies had almost a third less testosterone in their systems than before. Scientists also note that simply sleeping in the same room as a baby lowered the dads' hormone levels. Lower testosterone levels have been linked to a father's increased awareness of their child and are seen as a way the body adapts to caring for our young. [Source]
