Think robot uprisings are reserved for "Terminator" flicks and sci-fi novels? Brainiacs at the University of Cambridge say they could become a reality and are setting up a think tank called The Center for the Study of Existential Risk, devoted to contemplating the nightmarish possibility of Furby taking over. High on their agenda is mulling over technology's ability to wipe out humankind. When that happens, "we're no longer the smartest things around," says professor Huw Price, adding that we could end up at the mercy of "machines that are not malicious, but machines whose interests don't include us."
