The Good Giraffe takes random acts of kindness to new heights
11/15/2012Unemployed? Instead of sitting around in your undies and surfing the Internet all day, how about slipping on a giraffe suit and doing something nice? That’s what Armstrong Baillie does. Twice a week, the 32-year-old transforms himself into the Good Giraffe and spends his jobless hours handing out hot coffee to cold pedestrians, picking up trash and engaging in other random acts of kindness. He subsidizes his do-gooding by busking on his trusty kazoo and djembe drum, and hitchhikes around Scotland — but only in convertibles. Baillie says he chose a giraffe because “giraffes are like me, as my head is in the clouds and my heart is in the right place.” Well, get that suit on, we need a few Good Giraffes over here, too.
