Turns out the film — which, we remind you, has only been out for TWO DAYS — broke worldwide records, according to Warner Bros., raking in an astronomical worldwide total of $223 million. The flick shattered two records: biggest December Friday and biggest December weekend for the domestic box office. The film was an international smash, too — it's the no.1 movie outside the U.S. Bilbo's earnings are leaving "The Lord of the Rings" in the dust, though we suspect Peter Jackson doesn’t mind, since he directed both franchises.
