The kids aren't all right, say doctors against gay marriage

A group of prominent Australian doctors says its members are concerned for the well-being of kids Down Under -- especially those who have gay parents. About 150 practitioners from the Doctors for the Family group are arguing that children raised in heterosexual families "do better in all parameters" and that marriage between a man and a woman is the "basis for a healthy society." Mom Sandy Miller scoffs at the alleged evidence, saying, "I think people are afraid of new things [and of what] they don't understand." The Australian Medical Association has also distanced itself from the group. "It's a bit disturbing that these opinions have been proffered. It's certainly not the opinion of the AMA body of doctors," says AMA president Steve Hambleton.
