Nothing goes better alongside a little ass-bumpin' Rihanna than the delicate twang of a banjo, right? The Lumineers, an acoustic folk band from Denver, have been nominated for two Grammy Awards, and the group's performance next week alongside pop artists has highlighted folk music's surprising rise to fame in recent years. Apparently, the band is as puzzled as everyone else. Even as Top 40 radio stations play "Ho Hey" right after Nicki Minaj, the band says they're still baffled by their sudden celebrity. Grammy's producer Ken Ehrlich theorizes it was Bob Dylan's Grammy performance with Mumford & Sons and The Avett Brothers two years ago that caused a "big bang moment" for folk music, bringing it to the young masses.
