The Who finally offers a rain check – 33 years later

In 1979, Providence mayor Buddy Cianci cancelled a Who concert after a stampede at the band's Cincinnati performance killed 11 people. The Who didn't come back to Rhode Island for the next 33 years, but those dedicated fans who held on to their tickets are finally getting the performance they wanted. The venue will be honoring the tickets from the Who's 1979 show (which were originally refunded as well), with all redeemed 1979 tickets being donated to the Special Olympics.
