Thieves destroy entire bank trying to blow up a single ATM
9/25/2012Overzealous thieves in the German town of Nottuln-Darup used explosives to rob an ATM on Sunday night, but apparently underestimated how big the blast would be and destroyed the whole bank for good measure. The impressive blast caused damage worth hundreds of thousands of euros to the bank building and hurled debris 260 feet. Fortunately no one was injured. Police weren't sure at first if the thieves had managed to crack the ATM, on account of it being buried in the rubble. Once they found it, however, they ascertained that the explosives-happy thieves had removed some cash, but it's still unclear how much. Police haven't found the bombers, although they did find a stolen getaway car nearby. [Source]
