This device might help clean all the poop off our phones

4/12/2012

Truly disgusting research has unearthed that a cell phone may have 18 times the bacteria count on it than what's found on the handle of a public toilet. We don't even want to think about the one in six phones that have poop molecules on them. But you can't wash your cell phone. Enter PhoneSoap, a product that exposes the phone to three- to five-minute bursts of UV-C light that kills bacteria - the same technique used to sterilize hospital equipment. As an added bonus, the decontamination device also charges your phone. The project is still in development, so you'll have to wait a little longer to sanitize your cells.
