Stolen 300-year-old Bible is returned with heartwarming teamwork

2/6/2013

The world is still a good place! There was little hope that Tim Shier's 300-year-old family Bible would be found when the safe it was being stored in was carried off during a 2011 burglary in his Ohio home. The treasured heirloom, written in German Gothic script, contained a handwritten record of births, deaths and marriages in Shier's family going back seven generations. Unbelievably, a sharp-eyed family member spotted the item online, launching a three-state team effort to return the tome, including the police union pooling their cash to buy it back from its unknowing new owners in Georgia. Yay, team! [Source]
