Even toddlers don't want to deal with your whiny crap

8/22/2012

Turns out toddlers are just as good at spotting a whiner as adults are. And they're just as likely to want nothing to do with someone crying for no good reason. Researchers in Germany studied this by having 3-year-old boys and girls interact with two adults. In each case, one of the adults would act upset, either over something real, like a minor injury, or something ridiculous, like not sharing. In cases of legitimate grief, children were much more likely to show sympathy and concern. But if the adult was just whining over what was really NBD, the toddlers, like the rest of us, really couldn't have cared less. [Source]
