Hospital sued for bending to swastika-tatted dad's no-blacks demand

Tonya Battle was "shocked, offended and in disbelief" when her supervisors at Hurley Medical Center informed her she couldn't care for a baby in the neonatal ICU because she is African-American. And now she has slapped a racial discrimination lawsuit on the Flint, Mich., hospital after it acquiesced to a father who flashed his swastika tattoo to get across his demand for white-only personnel. A supervisor also posted a "no African-American nurse" note on the baby's chart, an act even the hospital's lawyer advised later was improper, though the order stood.
