Wave at three-mile wide Asteroid Toutatis as it passes Earth tonight

12/12/2012

An asteroid skirting around our blue-green orb tonight and over the next few days would easily be big enough to take out any remaining furtive dinosaurs if it crashed into Earth. Thankfully, the three-mile-wide asteroid Toutatis will whiz by at a safe distance of around 4.3 million miles at its closest early Wednesday morning. While its path misses our vulnerable spinning mud-ball with plenty of room, it will be close enough for a good look via online streaming telescope footage. With the Geminids meteor shower also set to impress, this is a great week to look up. [Source]
