Thief breaks into Tower of London, somehow misses all the good stuff
11/12/2012Despite the Tower of London's imposing stone walls, drawbridges and teams of Beefeater guards who live on-site, someone still managed to break into the castle, making off with a set of keys. (What? Not a stuffed raven?) The swiped key chain would've given the thief access to a "restaurant, conference rooms and an internal lock to the drawbridge." A spokesperson for the Historic Royal Palaces says that the Tower complex itself was never at risk, and neither were the Crown Jewels, which are housed in the appropriately named Jewel House. The Tower staff might face disciplinary measures, as the spokesperson pointed out that security was "not up to the expected standards." Huh. Those Beefeaters on the gin bottle look pretty alert.
