Trader Joe's is raising the price of its 'Two-Buck Chuck'
1/24/2013If you like your wine cheap, but the label free of the words "Thunderbird" and "fortified" preceding "wine," you probably have plopped down a couple bills (and some change) for the "Two-Buck Chuck" at Trader Joe’s. Alas, those days are coming to an end (unless you live in a place — Hi, New York! — where the price was raised long ago). The chain is raising the price of its stock of Charles Shaw wines in California stores from $1.99 to $2.49. The company is raising prices because "our retail prices change only when our costs change," and a poor grape crop the in 2010 and 2011 has impacted the wine industry. [Source]
