Trayvon supporters will brave heat for 'National Hoodie Day'
3/25/2012Twitter and Facebook users nationwide vowed to hunker beneath their hooded sweatshirts all day Monday in what's being dubbed "National Hoodie Day." The event comes on the heels of other "hoodie rallies" held to honor Trayvon Martin, and the pledge to endure sweltering attire regardless of the temperature is being billed as an act of solidarity with the family of the 17-year-old, who was shot and killed Feb. 26. Accusations of discrimination and racial profiling have flown in the wake of his death, and since Geraldo Rivera said the boy's hoodie was "as much responsible for his death as [the shooter] was," hoodies have become a rallying cry for Trayvon's supporters, who argue his clothing wasn't to blame.
