'Kill Bill,' 'Pulp Fiction,' other rad flicks made into ancient art7/13/2012
As part of the most epic graduate art thesis idea ever, Turkish designer Murat Palta has turned kickass movie scenes into ancient Ottoman art. His illustrations, which are going totally viral, fuse contemporary Western cinema with classic Turkish motifs known as "miniatures" or "illuminations," replete with delicate lines and Persian-style calligraphic titles. Check out the Bride from "Kill Bill" beating down the Crazy 88 army in a flowing 16th-century gown, or Arnold Schwarzenegger galloping on an Arabian horse as he outruns the chariot-driving Terminator. Whether you're a passionate art critic or a nerdy film buff (or you just think depicting Darth Vader as a rose-bearing sultan is completely flippin' awesome), we guarantee there's a picture here you'll love.
