26 'acts of kindness' dogs donated to honor Sandy Hook victims
1/10/2013An Alabama dog trainer isn't messing around with buying strangers' lattes to carry out the #26Actsofkindness mission. Heather "Red" Litz, owner of Tuscaloosa K9 Camp, is donating 26 trained service dogs to people across America to honor the 26 Sandy Hook victims (she hopes at least one will go to a Newtown family). Once schooled, these pooches, which normally carry hefty $5,000 to $22,000 price tags, will be qualified for personal or police service. Why is Litz so keen on giving back? In 2011, a tornado killed 22 of her beloved canines (two also went missing) and seriously injured a now-paralyzed employee. "We're still surviving on donations," says Litz. "Solely by acts of kindness are we here today." [Source]
